Ex-Black Stars defender, Shilla Illiasu says, Ghana can only go far at the World Cup in Qatar if they prepare well.
Illiasu, who played at Ghana’s maiden World Cup in Germany, credits preparations to Cameroon, Senegal and Ghana’s quarterfinal place finishes at fhe 1990, 2002 and the 2010 World Cups in Italy, Japan/Korea and South Africa respectively.
The 40-year-old who has now ventured into groundnut farming spoke to Radio Gold Talk Sport.
“If you look at when Cameroon and Senegal got to the quarter finals, they were well prepared.
“Although we are looking at going to the semi finals or but if you look Cameroon and Senegal and Ghana in 2010, you can see that when we are going to the World Cup we have to prepare.
“And preparations is mostly the motivation for the players and backing of the country.
“So to me if we are able to prepare ourselves very well, and with backing from the people of the country, I know we will get to finals definitely.” Shilla Iliasu told Radio Gold Talk Sport.
