Why Did They Kneel Before Him? – A Picture Of 2022 NMSQ Winners & Otumfuo Osei Tutu Causes A Stir

The 2022 National Maths and Science Quiz saw Legon Presbyterian Boys emerging as winners with 50 points. Prempeh College which is located in the Ashanti Region became second with 41 points and Adisadel College in the Central Region took the third position with 32 points. Before the finals, most Asantes were hoping that Prempeh College will win the trophy and present it to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II but it didn’t happen.

However, the contestants for the 2022 National Maths and Science Quiz winners namely; Nsiah, Tenkorang, and Austin have been captured at the Manhyia Palace, Kumasi, Ashanti Region. According to the person who posted this picture on social media, the students together with their teachers and the Quiz Mistress paid a courtesy call to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The students presented the trophy to the Asantehene. However, while they were at the palace, the students were seen kneeling before Otumfuo as they took a picture. If you watch the picture very well, you can see Nsiah, Tenkorang, and Austin kneeling before the Asantehene as if they were slaves. Some Ghanaians after coming across this picture said that the students kneeling before the Asantehene are uncalled for.

Others even said Legon Presbyterian Boys is located in Accra so why did they travel to Kumasi to kneel before the Asantehene? They should have visited the Ga Mantse rather. When Prempeh College won the trophy some years back, they didn’t kneel before the Asantehene before handing over the trophy.

Check out some of the reactions from some Ghanaians below:
