Education Minister given 7-day Ultimatum to Remove New Director General

The minister of education Dr Yaw Adutwum has been given a 7-days ultimatum to remove the newly appointed GES Director General Eric Nkansah from office by the four teacher unions.

Speaking at a conference today 27th October 2022 the president of the collation of concern teachers King Ali Awudu on behalf of the four teacher unions declared that Dr Yaw Adutwum has only 7-days to advice the president to remove Eric Nkansah with immediate effect. This conference was held to draw the attention of the presidency that a mistake have been made which is needed to be corrected immediately.

King Ali also debunk the claims by the Education minister that Dr Eric Nkansah was once a classroom teacher and for that matter should be accepted as New GES Director General. Another fallacy that was debunk was for the fact that the Hon Minister of Education said Dr Eric Nkansah yet participated in the negotiation of 20% cost of living allowance for teachers.

The teacher unions namely Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), Collation of Concern Teachers (CCT), National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) were all president during the conference to send a strong signal to the president over what is about to be fall. The angry teacher unions added that Dr Eric Nkansah should be any person to lead the teachers into any national disaster and for that reason the president must act fast.

They have given up to next week Friday for the Education minister to consult with the president for the needful to be done. They warned that failure to do so mean there will be industrial unrest within the Ghana Education Service. This call is in the right direction as they indicated that they can not work with Dr Eric Nkansah for he is not a member of the Ghana Education Service.
