Mahama Is The Most Tolerant Politician I Know Even Though I Disagree With Many Things – Manasseh

At the National Youth Achievers Awards ten years ago (and two years after graduating from journalism school), I got to meet Ghana’s “sit-in” president. On Thursday, October 27, 2022, he published a message on his official Facebook page that said as follows:

“Two months later, I celebrated his electoral victory, and four years later, celebrated his defeat. We disagree on many things, but if I were to name the most tolerant politician I know, I wouldn’t think twice about my choice.

At the recent dialogue on the safety of journalists organized by the German Embassy and DW Academy, I listed instances in the Mahama era, where his body language averted what could have been extremely dangerous moments for me.

He continued, “The law is clear on what to do if journalistic ideas harm your image. Physical assaults are not among the possibilities. Some of the politicians who advocated that if physical assaults were a prescription for reckless speech, they wouldn’t be around to advance that claim.
