Media General Ghana Limited, the in charge of Onua TV/FM, TV3, Onua Online, and other media platforms, has started campaigns to persuade the government to stop attacking the media and focus instead on the problems the nation is facing.
The advertisements, which feature the catchphrases “Arrest the Dollar, Not the Media” and “Stop Galamsey, Not the Media,” highlight the government’s efforts to silence the media about issues that it hasn’t done anything to address, such the Cedi’s ongoing devaluation against the dollar.
Over the course of 10 months, from January 2022 (when it was worth GH6.08) to October 2022, the Cedi’s value in relation to the dollar has increased significantly (when it was worth GH15.00).
Blessed Godsbrain Smart (also known as One of the Media General employees who was detained on Wednesday for his remarks concerning the President’s participation in the matter was Captain Smart, who hosts Maakye on Onua TV/FM.
Times are indeed hard and Ghanaians expect the government to address pressing issues such as galamsey, the rising cost of living, and the rampant depreciation of the dollar daily. Ghanaians are just becoming poorer as the days go just through no fault of theirs but mismanagement. It seems the government has turned a deaf ear to the honorable people of Ghana and keeps on doing what it wants.
