A 47-Year-Old Man Tells Why He Reggretted For Travelling To Libya 10 Years Ago

A 47 years old man called Kwabena James who travelled to Libya 10 years ago shares his sad experiences he had after he travelled. The man said he drop out of school in the second year of Junior High School, he then travelled to Accra to work to sustain himself but life at that place was not easy so he travelled back to his hometown in Takyiman. His uncle who helped most of the people in Takyiman to go to Libya convinced him to also travelled for greener pasture 10 years ago.

The man said they took a trailer Ghana to Niger before taking another car to Niamey. He bought 12 cups of gari and a gallon of water for his journey through the desert. Kwabena claims there 35 passengers in one car which made them feel uncomfortable, he surprised when he found human skeletons and helpless people who have been attacked by armed robbers lying on the deserts without getting help. Fortunately, their driver helped them to escape from the armed robbers when they got to the middle of their journey. The man reveals that they spent 8 days on the deserts before they got to their destination.

A Ghanaian man welcome him and taught him all the rules and regulations in the camp. He was not having money to travel to another country so he spent the rest of the days at the camp. Two months later he won the trust of those men in the camp and was allowed to go out and work as a cleaner in the neighbourhood which earned him enough money to survive at that time. One day the police came to the camp and arrested most of his colleague but he was to escape to a safe place till midnight.

The man added that he became stranded on the street for days.It was at that point where he regretted travelling to Libya because he became homeless for some months and this problem made him cry every night. Months later he met a Ghanaian man who was a Maison, he offered him a place to stay and he learned the construction work from him. He revealed that it was not safe to save their money in their rooms so they always keep it in their pockets.

Kwabena said he came back to Ghana three years later and began working as a commercial driver. One day poultry feed poured on his eyes whilst delivering it a farm but he didn’t pay much attention to it. A month later he began experience pains in his eyes, he immediately went to hospital but he lost his sight a month later. Kwabena again said his wife left him when he got blind which has made life very difficult for him.
