I ‘Forgive’ Akufo-Addo For Not Sending Me His Condolences – Former Presidential Aspirant Speaks

For some weeks Akwasi Addae Odike has become one of the most talked about personalities in the country. Odike is a former presidential candidate. He became topical after he made certain comments on Kumasi based Oyerepa FM. The FM station was forced to halt work and later made to apologize to the Kumasi Traditional Council. Akwasi Odike was banished from Kumasi and also called to apologize.

While speaking on Onua Maakye today, Monday, September 12, 2022 Odike mentioned that many were attacking him for the things he said on Oyerepa MFM but no one is investigating or consoling him after armed men broke into his office and fired discriminately. He raised questions as to why the IGP hasn’t taken the matter up and why President Akufo-Addo has been silent and yet chooses to console people who are outside Ghana when they die or lose property.

According to Odike there were 10 people in the room when the armed men stormed the place. He explained that the men fired discriminately with one of them being Otumfuo’s driver. The men shouted and mentioned that he Odike had spoken against Otumfuo. Odike sent a simple message to Akufo-Addo over how he has been treated.

“I forgive him for not checking on me or consoling me. In fact, I pity this government. Akufo-Addo sent condolences to the English Royal family and yet 8 people died in the last elections and he hasn’t said anything about it. Armed men stormed my office and fired 8 shots and yet Nana said nothing. I know some of those who came to shoot. Yet, nobody has said anything. Akufo-Addo doesn’t care until it concerns him. I can never be silenced” Odike said

Indeed, many have criticized president Akufo-Addo for been partisan and not being the people’s president. He has been lambasted for how he refused to console the families of the Techiman South election deaths and also victims of tidal waves in the Volta Region and yet a funeral is held in Ghana for Floyd and also condolences sent to victims of disasters outside Ghana.
