The Akufo-Addo government has so far been one of the most vilified in the Fourth Republic. The government has been criticized for making huge promises and yet doing very little. Indeed, the very government that blamed the Mills government for being a Do-Little finds itself in the same position. Many say the promises made by the government were just so they win elections. This is not to say the government has failed but rather the expectations of Ghanaians have not been fully met.
It can be recalled that the La General Hospital was pulled down because President Akufo-Addo said it will be rebuilt into an ultra-modern hospital. It has been 2 years since the cutting of sod for the project and nothing tangible is currently on the land. According to Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Akufo-Addo has performed worse than he even expected. He noted that Akufo-Addo will go down as the worse president and mentioned in history as a promise and fail president.
This view was debunked by Dr. Okoe who felt Felix was being partisan in criticizing Akufo-Addo. Okoe Boye mentioned that President Akufo-Addo has been one of the best president’s when it comes to healthcare. He cited a number of projects that were not completed by John Mahama that Akufo-Addo came to complete.
Interestingly, the NPP seek for another term in office to complete the works started by the Akufo-Addo government. It has now become a norm for opposition parties to lambast incumbent government for unfulfilled promises and yet when they come to power they also fall prey and also ask for more time to complete projects they started.
