10 days to start 2022/23 betPawa GPL campaign; King Faisal, Legon Cities draw latest friendlies

The 2022/23 Ghana Premier League, (GPL) season is set to kick off on Friday, September 9 with the Matchday One fixtures set to be completed on Monday, September 12, 2022.

With just over a week to the start of the campaign, the 18 clubs are putting finishing touches on their preparations for the season ahead with last minute friendly matches.

On Tuesday afternoon, two of the sides, King Faisal Babes and Legon Cities, were engaged in separate encounters in Cape Coast in the Central region and Beposo in the Ashanti region.

King Faisal Babes, drew 1-1 with Ghana’s locally based national football team, the Black Galaxies at the Cape Coast Stadium in a closely fought affair.

The Black Galaxies are preparing for the return fixture with Nigeria in Abuja this weekend in a second leg CHAN qualifier to next year’s tournament in Algeria.

Ghana leads 2-0 from the first leg encounter played at the Cape Coast Stadium last Sunday.

King Faisal has now rounded up their pre-season rituals in the Central region and, they will return to Kumasi to continue with their preparations ahead of the big kick-off next month.

Another top-flight side, Legon Cities, also drew 1-1 in their friendly game played this afternoon at Beposo near Mampong in the Ashanti region.

The game was against newly promoted DOL Zone Two side Asekem FC who are also preparing for start of the DOL Zonal league.
