John Mahama has asserted that for an economy to grow, law makers must stand up and do what is right or needful. No one is against this speech from him.
The nation’s growth is generally dependent on the proper functioning of all the arms of government. And the judiciary is no exception. Mahama’s attack on the judiciary is seen as a means to attack democracy in the country.
And if these early attacks are publicized in this manner, then the only reason is to tarnish the image of the judiciary and make them look as bad as they can be seen in the eyes of Ghanaians. Legal decisions will become less regarded especially under this government because they have already been tagged as disloyal and corrupt.
According to Justice Douse, this comment from the former president is an attack on democracy. And this is a dangerous aspect of the people’s right to attack. This comment from Mahama is not the best and should be withdrawn or suppressed as soon as possible according to Justice Douse.
Having the judicial system as the official leadership in calming and taking care of legal matters, this could mean that the Ndc will be using these allegations to disapprove of courts decisions on both elections and many other issues governing this country. It will mean the ‘corrupt’ judicial system will have absolutely nothing to use in convincing Ghanaians that their verdicts are authentic.
