The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association, (GFA), has canceled the Champion of Champions fixture between League Champions Asante Kotoko SC and FA Cup winners Accra Hearts of Oak SC.
The game was scheduled to be played on Monday, September 5, 2022 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
According to a publication on the media channels of the GFA, the cancellation of the Champion of Champions match is to give Champions Asante Kotoko SC ample time to prepare for their Champions League game the following weekend.
Asante Kotoko are scheduled to play Burkina Faso champions Rail Club de Kadiogo on Friday, September 9 in a preliminary round encounter in the Ivory Coast.
This first leg game will be played at the Stade de Yamoussoukro in Cote D’Ivoire with the return encounter to be played in Ghana the following weekend.
Asante Kotoko are currently in Sudan for the second phase of their pre-season program and, they are due to arrive back in Ghana on Thursday, September 1 to round up their preparations for the 2022/23 Ghana football season.
