General Secretary of the opposition NDC Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has taken a swipe at former Finance Minister Dr. Kwabena Duffuor over claims that he is spearheading the Ahotor project for his personal benefit.Â
Speaking at a press release, Aseidu Nketiah said that they have been compelled to address the media on the Ahotor project after meeting with Kwabena Duffour has not yielded a results.
“We have recieved information from Kumasi that, Dr. Duffour is going to distribute some equipments to our constituency at Kumasi and we feel betrayed. It is not a bad thing if a former Minister want to support the party anyway but there is a process that we go through.” He said.
“We actually heard about the launching of this project where it was supposed to be launched at Ashiaman. We felt that the design and it’s launch was problematic.” Aseidu Nketiah added.
He remarked that they invited Dr. Duffour and his followers but couldn’t resolve the issue. Aseidu Nketiah added that, once someone donates something to NDC, it’s the party that have the mandate on how it’s suppose to be used.
In Dr. Duffour’s case, he has mislead the party after donating to them and assuring them that it was the party that was going to have mandate on the distribution of the equipment. The General Secretary of NDC added.
He cited examples of how Mahama and Atta Mills donated vehicles to the party but left it’s distributions to the party. If Dr Duffour intends to donate to the NDC party, he must pass through the right channel otherwise his distribution can’t happen in the name of NDC.
