I Don’t Want To Believe The Remaining $35m Will Be Transactional Advise Payment To Databank

Member of communication team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Elikem Kotoko, has commented that he don’t want to believe that the remaining $35m out of the $750m Afriexim loan will be used as a transactional advise payment to Databank or a linked to Ken-Ofori-Atta.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Saturday, 27th August 2022, he wrote;

“The $750m Afriexim bank facility that government of Ghana is expecting has landed. Information has it that only $715m landed in the account.

What happened to the remaining $35m, I don’t want to believe it will be termed transactional advise payment to Databank or a linked to Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.”

Elikem Kotoko quizzed that why do we have all those experts at the Ministry and yet keep looking out for advise?

Background

The comments of Elikem comes as a background to $750 million dollars loan which Bank of Ghana has recieved.The loan is expected to finance capital and growth-related expenditures in the 2022 Budget.

According to experts, it will also give a big boost to the local currency, by helping to stabilize the cedi, which has been under serious depreciation pressure this month, especially.
