Asante Kotoko will be playing Nigerian club Rivers United at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, before playing their first match in 2022 CAF Champions League, Oyerepa FM has hinted. The two teams were scheduled for a friendly encounter in Turkey but the game had to be called off due to Asante Kotoko’s inability to embark on the trip.
Asante Kotoko had scheduled the second phase of their preseason activities in Turkey, as they confirmed a departure date, that is, August 14, 2022. Having announced a departure date without securing visa, Asante Kotoko further signed and announced a preparatory game with Rivers United, after signing a deal with the Nigerian side in their home.
Asante Kotoko – while working on Turkish visa – opened the first phase of preseason in Accra. The club later cancelled the trip, explaining that visa acquisition has been delayed.
As a measure to improvise, Asante Kotoko announced that they will leave for Sudan to continue the second phase of the preseason as some friendly games will be played.
Asante Kotoko will be playing Al Hilal in a two legged affairs before taking on Simba. They wrap us preparations in Sudan with another friendly game with a yet to to be named opponent.
They will then come to Ghana and take on Rivers United.
