Week 3: Premier League Team Of The Week – Saliba in Defence; Bruyne in Midfield; Marsch as Manager

The third week of the 2022/23 Premier League season – and the quest for a team of the week based on players’ performances, here is Week 3 Team.

Goalkeeper

Dean Henderson (Nottingham)

On loan at Nottingham Forest, Henderson’s continuous early-season fine form earned him the goal post once again, although conceded against Everton. He made the most saves (7) more than any other stopper this week.

Defenders

William Saliba (Arsenal)

Emerged as the top-rated central defender this week, the Frenchman made his first appearance in the team of the week following his staggering performance against Bournemouth where he scored, recorded 100% pass accuracy and kept a clean sheet.

Joel Veltman (Brighton)

Record their 11th dominant against West Ham United in Premier League history, the Dutchman did a great job in defence – locked the back doors with 6 clearances, kept a clean sheet to be named among one of the top defenders this week.

Davinson Sanchez (Tottenham)

Missed Spurs’ opening games, the Colombian international – stabilized the defence with a high magnitude to record their first clean sheet of the season against Wolverhampton, earning him a spot this week alongside Veltman and Saliba.

Midfielders

Jack Harrison & Rodrigo (Leeds)

For the first time in 19 years, the duo brought excitement to Elland Road against their biggest dominant Chelsea as they scored and assisted each other in an epic victory.

Martin Odegaard (Arsenal)

Captained of the season for the “Gunners”, the Norwegian International showed a real deal of a leader – sensational delivered two amazing goals to record their third win of the season making it to this week’s team.

Kevin De Bruyne (Man. City)

For the second time, the Belgian made it to the team week of the week with an assist that settled from behind against Newcastle United alongside 4 key passes, 3 created chances, 7 won ground duels and a rating of 8.4.

Forwards

Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace)

The Ivorian winger was the best player for the “Glaziers” this week although levelling with teammate Eberechi Eze in terms of ratings. His pressure on Aston Villa’s defence got him a brace that seal Crystal Palace through with their first win of the season from behind.

Che Adams (Southampton)

Man of the match as a substitute, the Scottish striker’s heroism was Southampton’s turnover at the King Power Stadium. 2 goals out of 3 shots on goal, he leads the team as our best player.

Allan Saint-Maximin (Newcastle)

Star performer against Manchester City, the Frenchman was very delighting to watch. His counterattack plays, key passes (4), dribble attempts (5) and two assists helped his side split points at St James’ Park for the first time in 8 encounters.
