The ESPV Validation portal from Controller and Accountant General Department has been opened for August 2022. Although it delayed, many people were anxious as at to whether the Cost of Living Allowance will be paid.
The confirmation from the ESPV Validation portal confirms that the COLA has been paid to all public sector worker.
How Many Months?
The 15% COLA For August and its arrears for July 2022 have been paid. This means that two months arrears reflected on the portal.
The 15% COLA is equal to one’s Retention premium. So calculating you retention premium will give you the amount to recieve. However some deductions were made on it.
Has the Cost of living Allowance been taxed?
Yes, for some about Ghc 98 has been deducted as tax on the arrears.
Background
The organized labour union in Ghana negotiated with government for a cost of living allowance to supplement the high cost of living in the country. An agreement was made in July 2022 that ,15% will be added to the salaries of workers.
The payment couldn’t be made in July as the time for agreement was close to the middle of the month. By then CAGD have started input of salaries and couldn’t effect the payment.
