Executive Committee member of the Ghana Football Association Nana Oduro Sarfo, has revealed that Ghanaian clubs are paying their players well but the players use their monies to buy expensive items such as iPhone, and later return to complain about lack of money. He added, players are treated well in Ghana but they fail to make judicious use of the money paid them.
“We have a standard salary that is minimum wage that is put in place by Ghana as a country. We cannot set a minimum wage. It is what the state uses that we also run on it. Players are being taken care by teams. You give a player an enticement fee today and he will buy IPhone 13 pro and when the get finished there will be a problem.” He told Sports Obama media.
There are many instances where players salaries are not paid on time, resulting in internal wrangling and revolt. Clubs in Ghana usually owns their players months of unpaid salary and remuneration. With Betpawa coming on board as sponsor, clubs have been urged to turn a new leaf.
