The residents of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region witnessed an unprecedented ‘health walk’ on Saturday August 13, 2022 when a group who called themselves as pro-Allan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng Movement set the ball rolling.
Started from the Bekwai roundabout at exactly 6 am, the absolutely peaceful health walk attracted thousands of people from all walks of life from both internal and outside the region to grace the occasion.
Participants were estimated to reach over 200,000, a great number that contributed to few traffic jams at some areas in Kumasi notably Bekwai roundabout, Bantama, Adum among others.
The walk though described as non political, it attracted number of leading politicians who in a separate interviews, termed their involvement as honoring the Trade Minister.
For the roles that he has played in the society to uplift the image of Asanteman and for that matter Ghana as a whole.
A former Ashanti Regional chairman of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) Nana Kofi Adu said he was not in the health walk program to dabble in politics.
With the name of the group l was inspired to touch down to honor the great hero of the Ashantis in the person of Allan Cash.
Mr Osei Kwadwo (aka Oheneba) former Ashanti Regional chairman of the Convention People’s Party Cpp), was very critical to those who were linking the ‘walk’ to politics.
Mr Osei Kwadwo wanted to know from such critics on when did Allan Cash declare his intentions to contest in the Presidential candidates race of the Npp to create the suspicion that someone is engaging in premature politics in his favor.
Mr Bright Amoah claiming to be a member of the Kumasi Kwadaso Constituency branch of the National Democratic Congress believes that there are some elements in the Npp who are afraid to see Allan Kyeremanteng’s presence in the race of the Npp flagbearership struggle.
My party is though Ndc, l feel proud to be in the group of Allan Kyeremanteng to participate in this peaceful health walk, Bright Amoah pointed out.
The former Member of Parliament for Nsuta Kwamang Beposo Constituency on the Npp ticket, Hon Kwame Asafo Adjei in a brief interview with the media denied the allegations that the health walk program was organized to promote Mr Allan Kyeremanteng’s political ambition.
I am a staunch member of the group and l don’t understand what they mean when they link politics to the activities of this group.
See we have really shaken the city and this gives clear evidence that the people love Allan Cash, the ex Mp observed.
And asked that if Allan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng is a politician is it a crime for individuals to honor him.
The former Mp concluded that since the group has nothing to do with Allan Cash’s political ambitions they would go ahead to honor the Trade Minister at any time they may find it appropriate.
