Kola nut is an indigenous west African fruit found in the rainforest. Most people consider it a very important edible fruit and medicinal plant. The kola nut has a bitter taste but becomes sweeter as it is chewed. Kola nuts may be a helpful natural remedy for some common conditions. However, as they contain about 2 to 3 percent caffeine and 1 to 2 percent theobromine that act as stimulants in the body when consumed, kola nuts may not be appropriate for everyone. Many people believe that chewing kola nuts provide the following benefits;
Facilitate digestion, it helps in normal blood circulation in the genital area and this will help in making hard arteries softer and help in normal genital functioning, it also replenishes energy and improves health. Aside from all the benefits derived from chewing kola nuts, it also has a lot of side effects, these side effects may include;
Chewing too much kola can cause insomnia; insomnia is a sleep disorder in which you have trouble falling asleep or staying awake. You may sometimes underestimate the time you are asleep. It feels like you sleep a lot more than you do. Insomnia can be cured in many ways such as; by reducing the intake of caffeine and alcohol, avoiding large meals when going to bed, etc.
Though traditionally, it’s believed that kola nuts contain nutrients and vitamins good for pregnancy. But consuming kola nuts in high quantities by pregnant women increases the risk of miscarriages. So it’s good for pregnant women to limit the intake of kola nuts.
