Director of Communication for Asante Kotoko, Davis Obeng Nyarko has detailed the contract between his club and kit manufacturer Errea. His explanations come at the back of viral reports today that Asante Kotoko are paying their kit manufacturer Errea for items that were supposed to given free of charge as part of the deal. He revealed that the anticipated profit for Asante Kotoko is over Two Hundred Thousand Euros, €206,276.
“So Asante Kotoko gets €56,376 worth of free kits from Errea each season. As our responsibility towards Errea, we are supposed to purchase and sell €82,853.60 worth of paraphernalia 6000 replicas at a discounted price of €12.50 (instead of €25 actual price) and any other paraphernalia of €7000.
Now simple arithmetic:
1. Kotoko gets €56,376 free kits
2. €12.5 x 6000 replicas ( €75,000.00
discount) free of charge
3. €12.5 x 6000 replicas profit = €75,000
So €56,376+75,000+75000 = €206,376 expected total profit to Kotoko.”
Asante Kotoko have been dominating discussions for various reasons. The club has announced a preseason itinerary to be held in Turkey but yet to settle on the impasse between head coach Prosper Ogum and management. They also announced their jersey which had the picture of the club’s patron, but management have rescinded the decision.
