Kwabena Agyapong Enters The Race For NPP Flagbearership race

Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, the former general secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has declared his intention to run in the upcoming party presidential primaries.

He claims that his commitment to humanity and the political ideals of the ruling party led him to choose to take the party’s leadership before the general elections of 2024.

“I want to be clear today. I will submit my nominations as soon as the party permits them for the party’s flagbearer, he said in an interview with Citi TV.

He thinks that his extensive and devoted service to the NPP will increase his chances of succeeding other candidates as party leaders in the upcoming elections.

“The party has guidelines, so we don’t need to act prematurely. When the time comes, you will be able to feel the youth’s warmth because my message speaks to them. Because I have worked with every member of this party’s leadership, they see in me the potential of our political tradition.

Because of what he had gone through, he claimed, “I feel the pulse of the people of this country and have empathy.”

Kwabena Agyapong added, “I have observed the daily trajectory of the Ghanaian people and I believe that there is an opportunity to change that narrative.

Former NPP presidential candidate Kwabena Agyapong was suspended in 2015 for misconduct along with the party’s former national chairman Paul Afoko and a former national vice chairman named Sammy Crabbe.

However, following a lengthy National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, the party lifted the six-year suspension.

According to the party’s constitution, the lifting of the suspension allowed him to rejoin the National Council and NEC of the party.

Article 3(d) of the party’s constitution, which mandates that members support the party’s decisions, was broken by Kwabena Agyapong, who was found guilty of the offence.

Additionally, “unilateral actions and activities without consultation with or seeking authorization from the NEC” were charged against him.

Despite being suspended, Kwabena Agyapong joined President Akufo-campaign Addo to be re-elected before the 2020 elections.

He was confident that he could use his extensive experience to help the party break the eight and thus create the favourable conditions for mobilizing the required support.
