GES: JHS Form Teachers Underpaid Compared to SHS Colleagues

Several basic School teachers within the Country has expressed dismay with how government is treating teachers at the basic and Junior high school levels, per checks in the senior high schools, form teachers are payed Responsibility allowance which is 10% of their basic salary, checks revealed that only senior high school teachers can access the allowance which places the Teacher at the rank “Principal Supt. Professional-Form/House/Snr.house Master/HOD/”

This rank becomes different with an allowance attached compared to a Normal Teacher with same rank at the Basic School Level, this means a form Teacher in the Junior High School or a Primary School becomes overused or extorted because extra work is placed on such a teacher, over 80,000 teachers at the JHS bad Primary School levels are not entitled to responsibility allowance, they are compelled to take up the Responsibility and as a result several teachers are beginning to runaway from such a task, leaving it for Headmasters to do.

The teachers have urged teachers associations to engage the Director General of Education on the Development.
