More Trouble Looms For Doumbouya To Relinquish Power As Massive Demonstration Impend

Doumbouya as the interim president of the transition has come under intense pressure from democratic unions demanding that the country be returned to constitutional rule. As earlier indicated, the CNRD has it within it’s plans to hold elections within the stipulated time after putting proper measures in place.

However, the National Front for the defense of the Constitution has threatened to stage a massive demonstration against the junta on the 28th of July. These demonstrators are calling on the coup maker to relinquish power and handover power with immediate effect.

Some weeks ago, violence broke out between the demonstrators and security personnel. Key members of the alliance were captured and detained for days before they were finally released. Roads were blocked and tear gases were fired and this caused a great commotion on the streets of Conakry.

Fast forward the organizers have pledged to stage a peaceful protest and have invited all pro-democracy citizens to join as they pressed on with their request. It is their firm belief that the mobilization will achieve its objectives and the junta will respect the rights and freedom of the masses.
