The University of Ghana Medical Centre is West Africa’s biggest hospital by area size.
The University of Ghana Medical Centre sits on a 400 acre land behind Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research. It was built at a whooping cost of $217 million. The ultra – modern medical facility offers service delivery, training and research. It is also well equipped with state – of – the – art facilities for trauma and emergency services with a heliport and internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, cardiology, heart surgery and medicinal imaging.
The facility currently boast of a 650 bed capacity and an additional on – going Phase 2 project at the medical facility will add 350 beds to augment the total number of beds to 1000. This facility will go a long way in catering for the needs of the people as well as creating an avenue for revenue generation for further developmental projects in the economy.
