Newly recruited teachers can do Galamsey to survive – GES Director Prof. Opoku Amankwa » ™

Prof. Opoku Amankwa has instructed newly hired teachers who have not yet received their Staff IDs to engage in Galamsey or other forms of hard labour in order to maintain their financial stability.

This was discussed in an interview that took place today, July 22nd, 2022, on UTV. Some recently hired educators have been working for around 8 months without receiving pay.

The Ghana Education Service has issued the first and second batches of staff IDs for newly hired instructors. These IDs were made available by the service.

Eight months into their employment, some teachers have not yet received their Staff IDs despite the fact that they have been on the job for eight months.

As a reminder, Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa is the director-general of the Ghana Education Service and an associate professor.

Prior to his appointment to be the director-general of the Ghana Education service, he was The dean of the International Programmes Office at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science And Technology.
