Barca draws against Spanish Lower-tier side proves why Xavi need more options in attack

Barcelona starts their preseason campaign in an away game against Spanish lower-tier side Olot at the Estadi Municipal d’Olot. The game ended in a score draw at the Estadi municipal d’Olot.

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang put Barca in the lead in the 28 minutes with an assist from goalkeeper Marc Andre Ter ster Gen. The Blaugranas could not hold onto the lead as the home side equalised through a spot kick in the second period of the game.

Barca started the game with their usual 4-3-3 formation with Akhomach, Aubameyang and Ezzalzouli In attack.

Barca dominated the game with 71% possession of the ball. Barca had 21 attempts on goal with 7 of them on target.

Barca found it difficult to break the defence of the home side as the game ended 1-1.

Barca has players like Ansu Fati, Ferran Torres, Memphis Depay, Ousmane Dembele and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang in attack but the Catalans have been busy since the opening of the transfer window for Bayern Striker Robert Lewandowski and Leeds United winger Raphinha.

Olot is a team that plays in the Spanish Tercera RFEF. Barca with all this quality in attack failed to beat the lower-tier side. This proves that the current Barca attack is less efficient upfront.

Barca will compete with stronger opposition in the 22/23 season ahead. The team will need quality up front to compete with some of the big teams in Europe.

Robert Lewandowski is a proven goal scorer that needs no introduction.

Raphinha has emerged as one of the best wingers in the game right now.

Xavi believes Lewandowski and Raphinha could solve Barca problems in attack.
