Pru East Member of Parliament, Dr. Kwabena Donkor has said that Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta cannot be trusted to lead negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) because he had said on several occasions that Ghana was not going to the Fund for support only for the President to decide to go.
In the view of Dr. Donkor, the Finance Minister is most likely to drag his feet in the negotiations hence, he must resign to allow the President to choose another person to lead the discussions with the Bretton Woods institution.
Addressing a press conference in Parliament on Thursday, July 7, Dr. Donkor indicated that if he fails to resign, Parliament will exercise its powers to ask him to go.
The astute minister believes it’s just so pathetic to see politicians who have failed in their job yet hold that position without a score of shame and remorse.Â
He landed that the government is just an administration that’s confused in its quest in governmental leadership, hence proper structures must be employed to ensure Ghanaians now have economic stability in times like this.Â
He concluded that whatsoever the minority in Parliament will execute in Parliament to secure this intent to relieve Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta from his position will be highly prioritized and that will do a lot of good to Ghanaians.Â
