All the teacher unions in Ghana officially activated a strike against the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo’s led government. In a long press release, they urged politicians to enter the classrooms and teach until their ( teachers) condition of service is improved.
Prior the official strike declaration, members of the various teacher unions chanted songs of agitation and anger. According to them, government has put a total deaf ear to their plea.
They therefore urged all their colleagues in Ghana not to go to school . Those that couldn’t hear the announcement were urged to return home.
A visit to some Basic Schools in the Dormaa Municipal Assembly saw some of the students playing football. They have been abandoned by their teachers over the strike.
This is not the first time teachers are embarking on a nationwide strike. It appears nothing better has been done for them. Hence, their recent anger.
