It Is Time To Scrap The E-levy- Okudzeto Ablakwa Tells Government

The member of Parliament for North Tongu constituency, Honorable Okudzeto Ablakwa has served a notice to the government following their plan to visit IMF for Financial support.

According to Okudzeto Ablakwa, government had two options, which include IMF and the E-levy. However, government chose to tax Ghanaians to generate revenue rather than visiting IMF for Financial support in the form of a loan.

Okudzeto Ablakwa added that it is time for government to scrap the unconstitutional and repugnant E-levy. He believes that government should be fair to the citizens and scrap the e-levy since both options can’t be implemented at the same time.

You gave Ghanaians two options: E-Levy or IMF. Having opted for the IMF, any honest government will scrap the unconstitutional and repugnant E-Levy immediately” he said.

Following the recent demonstrations and complaints from Ghanaian citizens, government has come to the realization that Ghanaians are really facing economic hardships. The e-levy which was supposed to save the economy seems to have failed itself. Due to this, the president of the land, Nana Akuffo Addo has instructed Ken Ofori Atta to begin formal talks with the IMF for financial bailout of the Ghanaian economy.

This will be the very first time in which the Akuffo Addo led government is accepting the IMF policy after years of criticisms.
