Mr Joseph Bawuah shared his story in an exclusive interview about what happened after his younger brother died in Italy. According to the man, his younger brother called James has been staying in Italy for so many years. Three weeks ago, he received a call from James’ friend who is also staying abroad, the man informed him that his younger brother is dead.
Joseph was a bit surprised but the friend explained to him that they all made arrangements to come back to Ghana but James fell sick all of a sudden, he then went to seek medical treatment at the hospital whilst he came to Ghana. The friend continued that he tried to call James on several occasions when he got to Ghana but nobody picked up his call.
Later in the evening, he received a call from a doctor at a hospital in Italy, the doctor informed him that James died while receiving treatment. Joseph said his brother’s friend decided to help them organize his burial and funeral rites. The friend even told him to provide him with a photocopy of his Ghana Card to help him identify the body at the mortuary.
Joseph again said his nephew who also stays abroad went to the mortuary with his friends for the body but they were told that his brother’s friend has given them an order not to let anyone get access to the body. Joseph stated that he was a bit confused, he went to his brother’s friend’s house to confront him about what happened but he rather fought with him.
He tried calling his number the next day but he didn’t pick up his call. His nephew went to the mortuary again, they informed him that it is true he is dead but his brother’s friend has ordered them to bury James in Italy. The man continued that his nephew went to the funeral rites and sent him all the videos he captured during his brother’s burial service.
A few days later he got information that his late brother built a house in Kumasi but his friend has gone for the house documents and doesn’t want any of the family members to go to the house. Joseph again said he went to the friend’s house to ask him why he is doing all those things but he again fought with him and warned him not to set his feet in his house again.
