7 Practical Advice The NDC Gave To NPP

Many Ghanaians in 2016, were looking for a Messiah to save Ghana from dumsor and hardship in the country. Following that, Ghanaians showed a red card to John Mahama and brought in the Messiah, Akufo-Addo and the NPP.

With excitement the NPP began introducing policies people were in love with. Firstly free SHS and others. As time elapsed, NDC started giving some advice to the government.

Below are Seven advise the opposition NDC gave to NPP.

1. Government should cut down on number of Ministers/Ministries to save money: They said Akufo-Addo ministers are many and hence he should reduce the number.

2. Government shouldn’t pay teacher and nursing trainees allowances to save money: One of the reasons which made Mahama unpopular with teacher trainees was the cancellation of allowance in 2013. NPP kept their promise and restored it. For now it seems it’s payment is difficult as there is a lot of accumulated arrears.

3. Government should cut down on borrowing to spend while our debts increase: They kept echoing to government to stop excessive borrowing.

4. Government should go to IMF for assistance instead of imposing E-levy on the people : Many NDC gurus said that, going to the International monetary fund for loan was the best option. The government however said IMF loans comes with restricted conditions and that will affect the employment situation in Ghana.

5. Government shouldn’t establish Development Authorities in addition to District Assemblies but rather strengthen SADA to perform its mandate strategically because of the special development needs of the people in the beneficiary communities or regions.

6. That the President shouldn’t be hiring very expensive private jets while the people suffer: Lead by Okudzeto Ablakwa, NDC has been on the tail of Akufo-Addo to stop hiring private jet and use Ghana’s presidential jet.

7. Government should invest more in Agriculture and stop people from smuggling our fertilisers.

Would Things Have Gotten Better Government Listened?

Things seems to be getting unbearably hard now in Ghana. Even if the government has listened, a lot of people would have blame the difficulties on the effect of COVID-19 and the Russian -Ukraine war. The effects of the above are devasting and has hit all the globe. Maybe despite the above, things may have gotten better.
