This morning there was some commotion in the Metro TV studios as Sammy Gyamfi, the NDC’s national communications officer, repeatedly claimed that Ken Ofori Atta’s recent parliamentary speech was a theft.
Sammy Gyamfi, the Finance Minister, claims that Ken Ofori Atta fabricated data and released overstated figures in an effort to fool Ghanaians. Sammy Gyamfi called this behavior “theft.”
“In accounting, hiding or understating facts is considered theft. because I’ve told you the truth. When I talk more about the expense side, I’ll demonstrate the rationale “He spoke
Sammy Gyamfi was informed by the show’s host, Mr. Randy Abbey, that he is not permitted to make any statements or accusations against the Minister of his program. He further stated that such charges are unsupported by proof. The host acknowledged that the presentation may have contained certain errors and shortcomings, but it does not give Sammy Gyamfi the right to refer to the minister and the government as thieves.
“The minister is being understated, you can say. You can charge him with hiding something. In the Minister’s own records, you have proven that. But you can’t claim that the minister stole anything.”
“You play the lawyer on this show. You cannot accuse the minister of stealing because you have evidence to support your claim “said he.
