Residents in Assin Asano, a 3.5 kilometers walk away community from Assin Jakai in the Assin South district – Central Region are now battling for the lives of their children who school at Assin Jakai and Market Women who went to market at mfante Nyankumasi due to a heavily downpour of rain which has flooded their bridge today.
The sad side of the story is that, students who have closed from school couldn’t cross the river to their various houses and market women who went to market couldn’t come home to sell their goods or stuffs to their various customers. In general it can be concluded that, the people of Assin Asano and its near by villages will not eat this evening. Since they are waiting for the market women to buy from them.Â
At the scene today this afternoon, devastated residents of Assin Asano lamented that, they have been going into this trauma every year for four good years. They disclosed that, in the year 2018 around 2:00pm there was a heavily downpour which resulted to the collapsed of their main bridge which serve three communities ( Assin Asano, Aben And Assin Mmoaho). Although it has been happening like this every year but today’s own looks like a sea, one residents voiced out.
They also expressed their predicament that, their live is in danger as the rain is believed to be raining heavily every market day ( Tuesdays and Fridays).
It’s very pathetic seeing people who votes during general elections to go into this trauma for four years. Therefore the people of Assin Asano and its nearby villages are calling on their Member of Parliament (Hon. Rev. John Ntim Fordjour), the D.C.E of Assin South District, and the president(Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo) to come into their aid.
Below are pictures or screenshot taken from the recorded video today at the scene.
I am a witness of what has happened there today.
