Yesterday, “I spent my day with KG learners of Lungbung D/A Primary School in the Tolon District of Northern Region. I participated in the play-based learning program being implemented jointly by Lively Minds and GES”.
In this program, teachers and parents are trained to support learners with games and activities that build functional literacy and numeracy skills both in school and at home. This program implementation is targeting 1million learners between 2022 and 2026 in 8 regions in the northern sector of Ghana. We are poised to transforming education outcomes as we seek to bridge the north-side divide and mitigate learning poverty among learners.
With my rural upbringing in underserved community of Assin Kruwa, President Akufo-Addo’s commitment in ensuring that no child is left behind on access to quality education, resonates with me.
On my working visit to Lungbung community, I was particularly impressed with how the Play Scheme has increased enrolment in Early Childhood Education and positively impacting the lives of learners, mothers and teachers.
I paid the visit together with Dr Peter Attafuah, Northern Regional Director of Education, GES Director of Early Childhood Education, DCE of Tolon, Country Director and Director of Partnerships of Lively Minds.
Below are pictures from his visit yesterday.
