I Am Still The Speaker, And Not The President – Alban Bagbin Reacts After Being Called Mr. President

There was a bit of of Drama in Parliament after Honorable Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, minister for foreign affairs made a mistake by calling Right Honourable Alban Bagbin, “Mr. President” in Parliament.

It all started when one MP stood up and asked the minister to explain or make some clarifications to the house concerning an allegation about a contract between the government and Kennedy Agyapong.

“Mr Speaker, I want to find out from the Minister, if it is correct that the Honorable Kennedy Agyapong was commissioned by the state to raise funds for the evacuation and in what capacity did he do so and in which institutions” he said

The Minister replied him and made it clear that she is not aware of any contract that has been given to Kennedy Agyapong to raise funds for the country.

Mr. President, I am not aware” she said.

This statement from the minister raised a whole lot of laughter in Parliament. The MPs cheered up loudly.

Alban Bagbin replied her and revealed to her that he is still the speaker of parliament and not the president.

“I am still speaker o, I am not yet the president” he said.
