It’s quite worrying and fishy as to why Ghana writes this year’s WASSCE alone. Our fellow West African countries are almost done with their WASSCE and Ghana is about to commerce theirs.
I can say that, it is because this year’s final year candidates stayed in the house for a whole year because of the Corona virus pandemic. In March, 2020 the sitting president, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo announced in his state of the nation address that all first year and second year students should return to the house.
Because these final year students stayed in the house for a whole year, they are far behind track and have a lot of syllabus to cover not to even mention their practical works.
A whole year wasted in the house because of this Corona virus. Applauds to the government of Ghana and to the ministry of education headed by Mr. Adutwum for their stellar works to push the starting date for the WASSCE from July to September and this will allow these final year students learn at their own pace and also cover enough and important topics as well.
Mostly and importantly to me, I plead with all final year students in the various senior high schools to comport themselves and also learn very hard for their forthcoming battle ahead of them. We all know that it’s not easy to learn right good subjects with each subject containing more topics to learn and at the end only a few topics are selected from these to test you.
They should also note that this is their chance to enter the university of their choices and they should be able to produce stellar grades in order to be picked by their favourite universities as well.
I wish them the best in their coming Examination.
