President of the Ghana Football Association, GFA Kurt E. S. Okraku has sent a congratulatory message to Asante Kotoko for winning this season’s championship.
The Porcupines were confirmed champions of the 2021-22 Ghana Premier League, GPL competition on Thursday after their game with AshantiGold SC at Obuasi.
Needing a point to be crowned winners of the campaign, Asante Kotoko played out a 1-1 draw game with the Miners to ensure that they win the diadem with three matches to spur.
“Congratulations for winning the GPL title this season,” he wrote, before urging them to work even harder for their African campaign next season.
Other messages acknowledging Asante Kotoko’s success has come from all quarters in the football industry in Ghana and beyond.
GPL side Berekum Chelsea were the first to post a congratulatory message to the Porcupines for battling through the storm to record a first GPL title since the season of 2013/14.
A message of encouragement has also come from their bitterest rivals on the Ghanaian scene, Accra Hearts of Oak with their national supporters chairman Elvis Hermann Hesse posting on Facebook.
He congratulated Asante Kotoko on their triumph and urged them to improve on their squad before their foray into Africa next season, and ended his message by saying, “Hearts of Oak will bounce back next season”.
Asante Kotoko will now look to improve on where they fell short on this season, and build on that if they hope to impress in the CAF Champions League they will represent Ghana in later this year.
