Why Dogs Bark at Some Strangers, but Not Others (Opinion)

Dogs often bark when people come to their house, either out of excitement or to make them go away. Dogs are always in alert mode when someone new arrives on the scene. However, they sometimes immediately start to growl or bark at some people, but not others.

Dogs are very sensitive and intuitive. They can sense a lot of things about a person just by using their senses. This momentary temper could indicate aggression, a defensive attitude, or simply some form of anxiety.

But why do they have different reactions depending on the individual? dog is not properly socialized, every exposure to strangers and with it, a bunch of new smells, sights, and behavior can seem threatening for the animal.

Even if the dog is socialized, it can still find itself in a situation where it feels anxious and insecure about something unfamiliar. A dog will pay attention to many details such as tone of voice, body language, and interactions with the owner. other person is seemingly angry or aggressive towards the owner, the dog in turn will begin to bark at that person or simply avoid interacting with them.

The likely reason why your dog growls or barks at some people and not others is because of their body language, the way they look or smell, how they interact with the dog or behave towards you or because the person reminds the dog of someone who previously mistreated them.

So the dog is more likely to bark at the people who possess more unfamiliar traits, especially when it comes to smell and looks. Dogs have evolved to read human body language remarkably well. Dogs can tell at a distance if you like dogs or not, or if you are afraid of them or not.
