Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum credits players for win over Medeama SC as they near the title

Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Nartey Ogum has credited the mental toughness of his side in their 2-0 victory over Medeama SC on Sunday.

The Porcupines put up a stunning display as they collected all three points against the Yellow and Mauves who have been very formidable at the Akoon Community Park, ACP this season.

Goals by Andrews Appau and Frank Etouga Mbella in the first half, were enough for Asante Kotoko to post their 17th win of the season to move closer to winning the GPL title.

And in recognition of this feat, Coach Ogum has credited his charges for putting up a good display against a very strong Medeama SC side that were second on the table going into this Matchday 31 fixture.

“Amazing performance like that does not come about as a fluke. It takes players with strong mental character to turn out such a stunning performance and good results in difficult grounds against a confident, determined and a high flying opponent like Medeama. Bravo to the playing body,” Coach Ogum said.

His Asante Kotoko side now require a win in their last four games to be crowned champions after extending their lead at the top to nine points with this victory.

They will next play their neighbours AshantiGold SC in a regional derby on Thursday afternoon at the Len Clay Stadium at Obuasi and, they could be crowned champions on the day if they win.

Coach Ogum will hope his charges will rise to the occasion against the Miners in this outstanding game in midweek as they seek the win that will see them across the line.
