There is some good news coming from the camp of record Ghana champions Asante Kotoko as their Cameroonian import Frank Etouga Mbella is available for selection in their game on Sunday.
The Porcupines will trek to Tarkwa to face the might of Medeama SC in a Ghana Premier League, GPL Matchday 31 fixture as they look to win the title.
Etouga Mbella will be available for selection to Coach Prosper Nartey Ogum after being given the all clear by Cameroon Coach Rigobert Song.
The former Indomitable Lions captain has not included Etouga Mbella in his final 25-man squad for their AFCON 2023 qualifier against Botswana next month, leaving the player to be free to feature for Kotoko this weekend.
Etouga Mbella received his first senior call up to the Cameroon national team ahead of those qualifiers and, there were fears that he could miss up to three matches of the Porcupines who have five matches to play as they seek a first GPL crown in eight years.
Etouga Mbella’s omission from Cameroon’s upcoming fixtures will be good news for the Porcupines who lead the standing by six points from second placed Medeama SC as the season heads to a close.
Etouga Mbella is the leading marksman in the ongoing competition having netted 19 goals so far to propel Kotoko to the summit of the stairs.
Coach Ogum and his technical team members as well as the Kotoko faithful will count on him to deliver for the team in their remaining matches as they seek to wrestle the title this season.
