The Assistant Manager for Dunkwa District Forestry Commission Mr. Christian Kwabena Duodu in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality of the central region has said 80% of trees planted under the Green Ghana Project in 2021 are doing well.
Inadequate rainfall and poor maintenance Culture had caused some of the tress planted in off-forest reserve area wither, others are battling with weeds for survival.
He disclosed this to Mohammed Radiu Dinn Rasko Dunkwatv.com, when the commission engaged stakeholders to deepen awareness and encourage as many people as possible to participate in an event, which is scheduled for the 10th,June 2022.
He said, as the country prepares for the second edition of the Green Ghana Day, the Dunkwa Forestry Commission is feverishly preparing to ensure a resounding success of the programme across the district.
“A total of 200,000 seedlings of the various species of trees would be made available for planting in the District alone this year during the Green Ghana Day.

Nana Gyekye Annim III, Denkyira Abakomanhene of Denkyira Traditional Council also thanked the general public, especially those who participated in the last year’s Green Ghana Project.
He then cautioned the people in Denkyira to shun any activities that will destroy the small seedlings that would be planted.
Meanwhile, the Municipal Chief Executive for Upper Denkyira Mr. Ebenezer Appiah Forson also called on individuals, organisations and corporate bodies to actively get involved in the forthcoming exercise as part of their contributions towards re-afforestation and also to help protect the environment from degradation.
