Lawyer and KPMG Professor in Accounting at the Fisher School of Accounting, University of Florida Stephen Kwaku Asare popularly known as Kwaku Azar has quizzed why highly paid Ministers are allocated prime land for peanuts when students have no textbooks.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Wednesday, 25th May 2022, he wrote;
“GOGO is in possession of a list of beneficiaries of the “auction” of public lands in prime locations at peppercorn prices.
How will the judiciary hold the executive accountable when its members are busily acquiring airport, Cantonments and Ronan ridge lands for ₵8,000?
Why should highly paid and ex-gratia receiving ministers be allocated prime land for peanuts when students don’t have textbooks?
Look, we cannot continue like this where the very trustees of public lands are just appropriating them for their own benefit.
GOGO will reverse all these sales, no matter when they occurred.”.
The comments of Kwaku Azar comes as a background to circulating news that, some Ministers of state and top government officials are buying auctioning cars at low prices and buying states lands as low as 6,000 and 8,000 cedis.
