League leader Asante Kotoko suffered another embarrassing defeat at home to Berekum Chelsea this afternoon. Kotoko has suffered some damaging defeats at home this season. They also lost to Legon Cities at home a few weeks ago. It is just unfortunate that we don’t have any serious title contenders to battle with Kotoko. From what I am seeing, Kotoko is being offered the title on a silver platter.
Against Berekum Chelsea this afternoon, Kotoko couldn’t take advantage of their home advantage. They wasted numerous goal-scoring chances. Mbella Etouga missed a sitter in the second half. Berekum Chelsea took a red in the second half handing the numerical advantage to the home side but they couldn’t make use of it. The away side eventually took the lead with a well-taken finish by Kelvin Obeng in the 79th minute.
They defended their only goal to take home all the 3 points. Kotoko is treading dangerously. If Bechem United had won today, they would have been just 4 points behind Kotoko with 4 matches left to play. But as I said earlier we don’t have enough serious contenders as such Kotoko is running away with the title.
