Manasseh Azure responds to the allegations leveled against the former PPA boss.

Manasseh Azure Awuni, an award-winning investigative journalist, is pleased with the outcomes of his contract for sale documentary.

The inquiry discovered that a business called Talent Discovery Limited (TDL), owned by Adjenim Boateng Adjei, a former head of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), was obtaining government contracts through restricted tendering and then selling them to others for profit.

Mr Awumi added on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem show that he is glad the expose’ was not abandoned like others in the past.

“I applaud the authorities for their prompt action in this matter. After the probe, President Akufo-Addo suspended him [Adjenim Boateng] for two days and dismissed him on the advice of the CHRAJ.

“I believe that if Akufo-Addo had handled all previous corruption instances in this manner, some of us would not have had issues with him.” “There are some that we’ve done that didn’t get this far, even though the state had enough evidence to get a conviction,” he added.

His remarks follow the Special Prosecutor’s filing of 17 corruption-related accusations against him.

The CEO has been charged with eight charges of profiting from public office and nine counts of influencing the procurement process to gain an undue advantage in the awarding of a procurement contract.

The Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice also found him guilty of conflict of interest (CHRAJ).

Meanwhile, Mr. Adjei is scheduled to appear in court for the first time on May 25, 2022.
