Ghanaians massively react to the sad death of another innocent inmate at Ashaiman Police Station.
A recent post shared by “FIX Ghana NOW”, reveals that one Ebenezer Dosu who is a Ghanaian by nationality, was arrested by a police officer who was extorting him for a particular amount of money, the exact amount was not mentioned.
The police officer arrested Dosu and detained him in the cell from 6:00pm to 11:00pm. He later on removed him from the cell and demanded a particular amount of money from the victim. Ebenezer Dosu could not pay because, he was not having that kind of money that the officer asked for. The police officer relaxing that, Ebenezer Dosu did not have the amount he asked him to pay, went ahead and detained him again at 11:30pm.
Ebenezer Dosu was actually detained in the cell without any official entry, which is against the law of the country. The inmate, Ebenezer had not eaten anything ever since he was locked up. He complained to the police officers on duty that he is hungry and needs food to eat, but he was ignored intentionally. He later on felt that his stomach was aching and so he told them about it but they also ignored him.
He was seen dead in the cell the next morning. Some Ghanaians coming across this sad incident could not keep their mouths shut. Raymond Kelly Mensah wrote that, in a nation where a wicked person rules, the people suffer. Randy Wascot Mensah said that, in his district, he has come to know that the police and the court were brought up to take advantage on those who are frustrated and in trouble as well. Others wrote that, the Ghana Police service actually needs a reform.
