John Mahama never said he was opposed to the Communication Service Tax(CST)- Sam George

Sam George on the Good Morning Ghana programme on METRO TV mentioned that the former president, John Dramani Mahama was never opposed to the communication service tax introduced by the NPP under John Agyekum Kufuor’s administration.

He explained that the former president was opposed rather to the proposed 8% communication service tax at the time. In John Mahama’s words, the proposed 8% communication service tax at the time will take the total tax in the communication sector to 23%. John Mahama at the time, Sam George explained, was only opposed to the proposed 8% communication service tax because it was going to place Ghana as the country with the highest tax on communication second only to Zimbabwe.

Sam George went on to challenge Dr. Okoe Boye who was on the programme and had accused the former president of opposing the communication service tax during Kufuor’s administration to provide evidence or a video of Mahama’s opposition to the communication service tax(CST)
