The match between Real Madrid and Manchester City began as predicted at Real Madrid’s home field, the Santiago Bernebeu Stadium.
Real Madrid wanted to show Manchester City what they’re made of and why they’ve won the Champions League a record 13 times
They also wanted to show themselves that they could beat one of the finest teams in the world after their victories against Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea.
The game got off to a good start, but it was Manchester City who was asking the right questions when Kevin De Bruyne hit a superb left-footed drive that Thibaut Courtois easily saved.
Then, in the ninth minute, there was a scuffle involving players from both teams, and Luka Modric elbowed Eric Laporte to the point that he went to the ground, which should have resulted in a direct red card for Modric, but the referee elected to give both players yellow cards.
Manchester City was treated unfairly in favour of Real Madrid.
