Inventions are what brought about modern day civilization and as more and more equipments are invented, the easier our day to day activities become. There have been thousands of inventions and inventors since time immemorial hence there is the need for the remembrance and celebration of these renowned intelligent men and women.

As Carl Benz invented the car, and time went on and on, it got too expensive having to buy fuel and the demand for jointly demanded commodities such as car and fuel constantly hiked prices. Stanley Meyer an American engineer came about with the idea of powering a car without fuel but with just oxygen and his newly invented water fuel cell to raise car fuel.

He came up with this water fuel cell device which produced energy to power a car’s engine by passing electricity (electrolysis) through water to produce hydrogen and oxygen. His first patent was a success but many other gas and fuel companies saw it as a threat to the oil and gas industry and made it their life’s mission to prevent his invention from becoming a success.

Stanley who developed the water fuel cell with his brother toured with the prototype car in many universities and colleges asking science and engineering students to conduct tests though neither of them could prove it. Many saw it us a boycott while others outrightly claimed his invention was a scam.

This led to several investors suing him. He was tasked by the law court to refund his investors even though he and his brother believed they were been silenced because the government were insecure about the new invention.

A couple of weeks later he met with a few foreign investors in a local restaurant to discuss about a potential merger between the two companies and his new invention however after taking a cranberry juice Stanley Meyer rushed out of the restaurant saying his last words to his brother “they poisoned me” dying on the spot afterwards.

That was the last to be heard of Stanley Meyer and his water powered car and his brother also felt threaded and gave up on the campaign to get the water fuel cell recognized.Autopsy was later carried on his body and the outcome of his death was not good poisoning although many believed it to be a cover up.

A few disadvantages many people believed his water powered car could bring was that, since it was to be powered by water, water will become relatively scarce and this could affect water bodies and fishing industries. Since cars run on fuels such as oil and gas, the introduction of a much cheaper fuel to power his invention will render the oil and gas redundant in the case of vehicles.
