Abronye DC unveils a cyber security act that will give offenders 15 to 20 years of imprisonment

On Wofa Kwabena Kwakye’s Oman FM 107.1MHz hot political talk show ‘Boiling Point,’ Kwame Baffoe, widely known as Abronye DC, the Bono Regional Chairman and a communicator of the New Patriotic Party, unveiled a cyber security statute that will sentence violators to 15 to 20 years in prison.

He claims that the Cyber Security Act, which was passed by Parliament, has never been applied, and that he intends to put the law to the test this time in court.

According to Abronye DC, the legislation states that posting someone’s naked or explicit images without their consent will result in the offender serving 15 to 20 years in prison. He also emphasized that this activity is equal to false publication and is punishable by law.

Threatening to publish nude or obscene images of someone will result in three years in prison, he said. He went on to say that if someone threatens to expose your naked images without your knowledge in order to blackmail you for ransom, it is a criminal offense under the law.

One does not have the right to make public naked images of others. The law totally protects everyone from blackmailers who try to blackmail them into exposing their naked, explicit photos on the internet.

Kwame Baffoe Abronye claimed that for years, a large number of criminals, both men and women, have been using their counterparts’ naked images to blackmail them for large sums of money by slowly posting them on social media.

He went on to say that Ghana’s Electronic Communication Act 1028 also prohibits Ghanaian journalists working overseas from openly disparaging all dignitaries, government officials, various chiefs, and noble pastors on social media or other media sources.

Abronye DC has threatened to file a complaint with the Ghana police for individuals responsible for the character defamation. This time, the law will take its course, according to Abronye DC.
