Despite being admitted to Adeiso Presbyterian Senior High School, 16-year-old Adu Hannah, the only person who can see in her family, it difficult to attend school.
Appiah Comfort, a Crime Check Foundation (CCF) Charity Series recipient, is unable to obtain the materials listed on her prospectus in order for her to begin school.
She tells crimecheckghana.org that despite being blind, she distributes sachet water in a school and also does laundry for others in order to support her family.
Miss Appiah explained that the money she earns from her business is hard enough to feed her family, so supporting Hannah has become a hardship.
She expressed concern that if she stayed at home, her only abled daughter’s promising future might be hampered by adolescent pregnancy.
“Hannah is the only one who can see and has been assisting me with household duties.” I want her to achieve greater heights so that she can care for me as I grow older, but this may not be possible if she does not pursue further education. If proper precautions are not taken, she may become pregnant,” she stated.
Hannah approached CCF for help with a long list of goods for a successful school year.
The Foundation, with contributions from its supporters, the German-based ‘Daughters of Lord Church of Pentecost,’ and Emmanuel Boabeng in the United States, provided her thousand two hundred Ghana cedis to enable her to buy the things as part of its educational support series.
Madam Comfort expressed her gratitude to CCF and the donors for their assistance. “I appreciate your unwavering support. “May God bless you and give you a long life so that you can continue to do good,” she said.
Hannah is committed to working hard in school since she aspires to be a journalist.
